Weekday Afternoons from 2p-7p
Kara Franklyn was born in Southern California but grew up in Northern California. Walnut Creek will always be considered somewhat "my home!" I went to school there, fought and played with my brothers and sister there, had my first heart broken there and made lifelong friends that no matter where I live will always be there! I have lived in several cities in California, but could never see leaving the state. I love it way to much. Except for the highest gas prices in the nation, From Monterey to Tahoe, DisneyLand to the San Francisco Zoo, it just doesn't get much better! I have married to my husband Pete for almost 2 years now. He is an amazing person, who makes me laugh, think and become stronger as a person every day. No matter what the situation is, it's the little things that can make it the most special! I have a close family filled with the craziest, most fun and very loving brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and a very fiesty mom. I love to go whale watching. In fact, Pete fufilled one of my all time dreams. Since I was a kid, I have loved Beluga whales. I always told my Mom I wanted one and would keep it in our bathtub. She said it wouldn't fit, likely story, she just didn't want to have to take care of it! ha. I went back to Conneticut and New York to meet the rest of Petes family and there is an aquarium in Mystic Conneticut where you can swim, pet the Beluga's! It was so amazing! They are so sweet and remind me of Pillsbury dough boys of the sea! I have been so blessed in my life. No matter what the situation, good or bad, I have been surrounded by family, friends and Pete who have been there to share the laughter or the tears. They have helped me to become a better person who appreciates that no matter what, if you have family and friends, life, no matter what comes your way can be appreciated and even laughed at!
My husband and I have been married for almost 3 years now. I have an engagement ring, but we never got around to the wedding band. My main reason being that my engagement ring is so beautiful, why pair it up with anything else! That is until I heard about Gabriel Fine Jelwers offer!! We, me, you, whomever (!) can buy anything now thru December 24th at Gabriel Fine Jewlers and if it rains on January 1st we could get it for free!! Sweet!!! Pete and I picked out a wedding band which is so beautiful!! It is the perfect match for my engagement ring! It is now sitting under the tree and Pete keeps checking the forcast! So far, it looks like the possibility of rain!! I can't even begin to imagine receiving my wedding band for free, but obviously Gabriel and Liliana did! Stop by Gabriel Fine Jewlers to find that perfect present with the posibility of the perfect price!! FREE!!!
I am interested in your thoughts on something that was brought to my attention. I do not have children, but I know how I would feel, but I am always interested in hearing all sides of opinions.
A co-worker has a 6 year old son with cerebral palsey. His left side is mostly paralyzed but he tries to do the best that he can. He will face challenges all his life and his Dad has not kept that a secret from him, but at the same time he enjoys life and does not look for any pity.
Ok, so this is what happened recently. Lucas has perfect attendence at school and is quite proud of it. His sister who is in the 8th grade has only missed 2 days in her entire school career. He is striving to beat that record! He has not missed a day of school, yet he had an afternoon appointment for a physical therapist that he had to go to. There was no other time and so Lucas went to school with his Dad picking him up after lunch. The principal then notified him he was no longer in the running for the perfect attendence record, even tho he had been there in the morning. Lucas was devastated. His Dad pleaded with them. No award.
I get life is hard for everyone and kids need to know life is not fair always, but really? A piece of paper that this kid has strived to achieve is denied to him because he had PT. Help me out, is that fair? In my world, I don't think so. Life is hard enough but to show a 6 year old that even tho you went to school and had a physycal therapist appoinment for a disease you will have for the rest of your life, you didn't quite make the perfect attendence. There will be plenty of time for life to show him that, give him the award.
But Stroud Elementary in Empire does not agree with me, or his Dad or 6 year old Lucas who already has better attendence than I ever did as a kid.
So, that's how I feel, how about you?
friend of mine once said, if you put on your tennis shoes, the hard work is over, the rest is easy, you'll get out there and start to work out. Ok, tennis shoes on, check, tv on, check, reason number 438 why I shouldn't work out tonight, check!!! I don't know about her, but putting on my shoes, doesn't do much for my motivation!! I swear, if someone could come up with a way of channeling motivation, they would make alot of money! But in the meantime, I will continue to procrastinate and think of all sorts of reason why today is a good day to do nothing@
