Mr. Gnome are a duo whose melancholy, prickling, guitar-driven sound nods to Cat Power-influenced indie rock acts like Land of Talk and Lightning Dust. The duo formed in Cleveland, OH, in 2005 as a collaboration between Nicole Barille and Sam Meister, who had worked together in a small local band previous to forming Mr. Gnome. Their debut EP, Echoes on the Ground, was released through their homemade label, El Marko, before the year was out, and their second, self-titled EP arrived in 2006. Mr. Gnome's first full-length album, Deliver This Creature, came out two years later.
