Biography
England-born guitarist and vocalist Hammond Gamble took up his instrument as a teenager, shortly after moving to his father's native New Zealand. His first passion was the blues, and he formed the band Street Talk in 1974, which recorded a pair of albums prior to folding. The band's first single was produced by Chris Hillman, while its debut album was produced by Kim Fowley. Gamble recorded a handful of solo albums and peaked commercially with "You Make the Whole World Smile," a 1992 single released under the name the Red Nose Band; the song reached number one on the singles chart in New Zealand.
