The career of Atlanta vocalist Algebra (formerly recording as Algebra Blessett) began to take shape with background credits on albums by India.Arie and Musiq. Algebra also appeared alongside Anthony Hamilton on Miri Ben-Ari's "She Was Just a Friend" before releasing her first album, 2008's Purpose, on the revitalized Kedar label.
