Not only does Forrest Kyle play the sort of virtuosic post-Van Halen/Satriani instrumentals that cast a long shadow over hard rock guitar in the '80s, but he started doing it over a decade after the fact -- as a teenager. Kyle grew up in Mt. Vernon, WA, and began playing guitar at age 14; within just two years, he was able to perform Eddie Van Halen's legendary "Eruption" solo at a school assembly and was soon playing area taverns. During his senior year of high school, Kyle began recording demos of original material, playing guitar and bass over a drum machine; remixed and overdubbed, these songs became his independently released debut CD, The Adventures of Guitar Man, which appeared in the summer of 2000.
