Canadian multi-instrumentalist David Quinton began his public musical career as a drummer in the Who and Jam tribute band the Mods in Toronto in 1977, then left to become Stiv Bators' drummer for a 1979 tour, before returning to Toronto with a solo deal in hand from Bomb Records. The resulting album, released in 1981 and simply called David Quinton, was produced by Stan Meissner and represented a return to Quinton's power pop roots. Quinton's next move was to join the Jitters as a drummer, but he eventually left the group to attend law school.
